Buying Mistakes

Buying Mistakes

Because boats are expensive we would like to help you to avoid getting into financial trouble due to a lack of knowledge. Follow these steps to ensure that you make the right decision:

- If you are considering a mid size power boat make sure it is the correct boat for the type of water you will be boating in. A larger body of water will make a difference on the performance of your boat.

- Do a careful check of the engine you will be using on the boat. Will it stand up to the test when you need that extra power. If you are thinking about buying a diesel engine do some research. Sometimes those boat engines are not as reliable as you would think.

- The design is important but so is performance. You can achieve both goals if you take the time to ask questions about both issues. Talk to people who own boats and see what their likes and dislikes are.

- Because all boats are not alike, it is very important that you try them out and ensure that you buy the right boat for your needs.

- Visit boat shows and discover how you can get the most boat for the money. Remember, however, the dealers are trying to sell their boats. It might be best to base your boat buying decision on more than just this experience.

- Check out the wanted-ads in the newspapers where you live. If you have done your research you will have a pretty good idea what you are looking for and what you are willing to pay. Another thing to do before you buy a used boat, is to get a copy of the boat blue book.

TODAY'S NEWS:

Congo's Red Cross says at least eight people have died and 20 others are missing after a passenger boat capsized northeast of Kinshasa, the capital.

A 3-year-old Brooklyn girl drowned Tuesday when a strong gust of wind capsized the boat she was sailing on in Long Island Sound.

A 32-foot cabin cruiser is in quarantine after Tahoe Keys Marina employees spotted a quagga mussel on the boat’s engine Friday. “More than likely they were dead mussels,” said Dennis Zabaglo, the watercraft program manager for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

Remember that first impressions last, but also take into consideration that you should do your homework and ensure that you buy the right boat first time. Take into account the quality and as well as the features that are most important to you. Therefore it is of the utmost importance to buy using your head and not your heart.
